Medical imaging drives effective patient care through screening, diagnosis, and treatment. The Medical Imaging Division, known as the
Medical Imaging & Technology Alliance (MITA), is the collective voice of medical imaging equipment manufacturers, radiopharmaceuticals, innovators, and product developers. Division Members interact extensively with healthcare professionals. Together, they strive to reduce regulatory barriers, establish standards, and advocate for the medical imaging industry.
Member technologies include medical equipment that
employs noninvasive modalities that include x-ray, computed tomography
(CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), nuclear, positron emission
tomography (PET), and ultrasound. The deployment of healthcare
information technology, which is used in the diagnosis and treatment of
disease, can avoid unnecessary and costly exploratory surgery and
assists healthcare professionals in making timely and accurate treatment
DICOM? (Digital Imaging and
Communications in Medicine) is the international standard to transmit,
store, retrieve, print, process, and display medical imaging
information. It makes medical imaging information interoperable.
